Basic Flatwater Instructor
This national certification provides comprehensive instruction and administration, serving as the entry point into the Paddle Canada Stand-Up Paddleboarding Instructor program. This course is a prerequisite to Paddle Canada’s upper-level instructor courses including Surf, Touring, and River options.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Paddle Canada Instructor certification, allowing them to teach Basic Flatwater SUP courses.

Clinic content:
This course covers a range of topics, including teaching and learning styles, risk management, equipment selection and fitting, paddle strokes and maneuvers, rescue techniques, and lesson planning.
Equipment
Wetsuit, leash, personal flotation device (PFD), paddle and your personal board
Prerequisites
- 16 years of age
- Current Paddle Canada Membership
- Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater SUP certification (or equivalent skills and knowledge)
The course is limited to 6 participants per instructor. Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable
