Advanced Flatwater Instructor

The Advanced Flatwater Instructor Course focuses on safety, risk management and effective instruction techniques. Candidates will learn to apply more complex skills in a variety of conditions. This course is a prerequisite to Paddle Canada’s upper-level instructor courses including Surf 1 & 2, Touring 1 & 2, and River 1 &2.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Paddle Canada Instructor certification.

Duration: 16 hours

Ratio: 1:6

Co-delivery: This certification may be co-delivered with the following

  • Intermediate First Aid CPR-C and AED
  • ISA/ILS Water Safety and Rescue Course for Surf and SUP Instructors

Equipment

Wetsuit, leash, personal flotation device (PFD), paddle, and your personal board

Prerequisites
  • 18 years of age
  • Current Paddle Canada Membership
  • Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater SUP certification (or equivalent skills and knowledge)

The course is limited to 6 participants per instructor. Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable
